What is Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST)?
Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) is a treatment program designed to help families with a child who is facing challenges with their behaviour, such as criminal behaviour, substance abuse, school problems, or association with negative peers or adults.
The program is designed to provide intensive support to the family to help address these issues and prevent the child from being placed outside of the home.
There are two different teams within MST, the MST Core Team, which focuses on children between the ages of 11 and 17, and the MST “E” Team, which works with children between the ages of 10 and 15.
The program is designed to work with the family and all the systems around the family, such as schools and community organizations, to help develop a plan for the child and the family to be successful.
MST is designed to be a flexible program, and the team will work with the family to determine the best approach for their situation.
The goal of MST is to help the family and the child be successful and to prevent the child from being placed outside of the home.
