Be honest and try to understand how we feel

Show up when you say you are going to.

If you are leaving to get a new job, tell us and say goodbye.

Let us know what has been happening since you last saw us – sometimes we don’t know what’s going on.

If you can’t do something that I have asked for or that we have agreed, tell me why.

Try not to make me feel different from other children, especially when I’m at school or with other people.

Try and put yourself in my shoes.

When sharing our story with us, give us the time and space to do this, do not rush it and make time to explain and answer our questions.

We know you have to have your ID card on you, but when other children at school see you talking to us and you are wearing it round your neck, they know we are in care.

Tell us a bit about yourself, we have to share our stories so it’s nice to get to know you. We meet so many people so you might have to remind us how you will be helping us.
